"Standing Outside The Fire"

We call them cool

Those hearts that have no scars to show The ones that never do let go

And risk the tables being turned

We call them fools

Who have to dance within the flame

Who chance the sorrow and the shame

That always comes with getting burned

But you've got to be tough when consumed by desire

'Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire

We call them strong

Those who can face this world alone

Who seem to get by on their own

Those who will never take the fall

We call them weak

Who are unable to resist

The slightest chance love might exist

And for that forsake it all

They're so hell-bent on giving ,walking a wire

Convinced it's not living if you stand outside the fire

Standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire

Life is not tried, it is merely survived

If you're standing outside the fire

There's this love that is burning

Deep in my soul

Constantly yearning to get out of control

Wanting to fly higher and higher

I can't abide

Standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire

Life is not tried, it is merely survived

If you're standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire

Life is not tried, it is merely survived

If you're standing outside the fire

The youngest daughter of the founder of the house, Gabrielle whitehand is the baby of the merchant house and thus she is a touch spoiled.

She traveled when she was younger with her mother and father as they made trips around the Empire after her father was promoted to a noble house. She paid attetnion in court and at dinners and her mother encouraged her to sing to entertain those they took dinner with.

Gabby loved to entertain and took up dancing as well as her mothers shrewd eye for business. She was a lovely young girl, if not a bit excitable and slightly hyper and she gained quite the reputation as a flirt among older gentlemen in the courts.

'Not that she ever intended but Gabrielle's unintnetionally sensual nature caught the eye of a particularly eager and somewhat wicked man of standing among the Emporer's court when she was the tender age of 14.

He attempted to engage to her, offering riches more than a family of the Whitehands standing at that point should have been given for the youngest daughter. But her father refused at the Young Lord Gabriel's coaxing.

The Lord was infuriated and hired an assasin to kill Gabrielle rather than let some other lord snatch the young Lady (Gabrielle) up and disgrace him. Unfourtunately when he did this, the assasin didn't realise that Gabriel and Gabrielle switched places some times so Gabrielle could explore and adventure as was her tendancy to do and instead went after Gabriel slitting his throat.

A cry went out, Gabrielle sensing something was wrong with her brother and the assasin was caught and interrogated and fingered the old Marquis who had saught her so dillegently.

Gabriel was saved and the old lord was stripped of everything and his things given to the House Whitehand to assimilate into their Merchant Nobility and they were given his title.

Their father sent Marchioness Gabrielle and marquis Gabriel to the north then, in hopes that with their new titles they would, under the supervison of their older sister, be able to make a name for the house in the Emporer's New lands.

Since then Lord Gabriel and Lady Gabrielle have constantly put their efforts into the betterment of the Colony of Highwind Point. Money, heart and soul and continue to do so even today.

Update: Since being at Highwind POint, Lady Gabrielle's life has been tumultious. The ups and downs numerous, though she's always kept her generous nature despite the hardships of loosing three fiances, her brother, her cousins, becoming royalty, living under persicution from other nobles, and otherwise struggling to keep herself optimistic despite the pain. The Princess of Highwind Point's marriage has been claimed to have been rocky, and the Princess has stayed in her own home until recently. When rumors from her servants of Gabrielle being harassed into becoming 'romantically' involved in what was a political marriage despite the return of her beloved X-fiance surfaced hard and fast. The Princess hasn't been the same since.

Queen Gabrielle Whitehand was called away from Highwind Point by the Emperor in recognition of what her rulership had done for the city despite a few twists and turns throughout her career. The Queen graciously, but reluctantly, accepted calling her allies to her and distributing goods among them as her farewell.

After appointing House Skye in her stead, she took quick Teleporters to visit Elliot and stayed with him for a months time, learning of the Emperor and Empresses desires for Kraceheim and the surrounding area and coming up with ideas on how to help the city and the Empire with it grow.

Queen Gabrielle continued to prosper, living through a few assassination attempts - though one just barely, and creating a shockingly fertile environment for the economy of the city of Kraceheim and the surrounding areas helping to buffer the empire.

She ran a small inquisition through her house where nearly one-fourth of its members were excommunicated from the church, executed, or exiled. They went quietly, as the Queen allowed them or their families money and possessions so they wouldn't starve. None ever spoke of why the Whitehand Queen simply removed them, there are rumors the Church knew but they never spoke either on the subject.

The Queen raised armies of Rune Knights to fight for the Emperor and the Empire, her brother joining her on the mainland for a time while they set their city up to be a surprising balance of Military, Merchant, and Church headed by the Empire.

It was not without it's cost however, as the Queen of Whitehand would become withdrawn at times, often missing her Northern home and the people in it - though it never affected her ability to rule subtly and gracefully it was often thought of as a weakness amongst Court.

Over time the pale Queen of Kraceheim gained nicknames. The Arctic Rose, the Ice Queen, and even among darker circles who say the Queens abilities and knowledge of the arts of assassination are what saved her from death in those shadowy encounters she was known as the "Dark Star of the Empire." Rumor only grew when she refused to become insulted at that nickname when she often disliked the others.

Quietly, She and Gabriel built a small slice of the Empire. Though exciting at times, Gabrielle's life was mostly uneventful thereafter. Living a long healthy life, visited by friends from the North often on her old coin and keeping an ever watchful, if distant, eye on Highwind Point and the Northern Continents progress. not forgetting her roots. ---
