Justicars
From SCross
"Justice sees through my eyes. The eyes of the just can see the cracks of weakness. Frailties, the wounds of mercy upon the heart. In seeing, I know the guilty. I know their fear." - Book of Seven Tenets, Preface

History
The Justicars were a short-lived militaristic faction, emerging from within the Capital City of the Empire around 2016 AH. The chief reason assumed for their existence was the over-abundance of crime and a lack of the populaces faith in the city enforcers to continue to uphold law. The movement was lead by then Imperial Magic Guildmaster Machite Alair.
The initial unveiling of the philosophy and reasoning behind the Justiar faction came suddenly, and with much fanfare. In fact, the Guild of Magi was actually closed and barred to the public for several weeks, all leading up to the announcement by the guildmaster himself.
At first, the Justicars were reported to be a sect of the Guild of Magi, but this quickly changed. However, this union was short lived, as imperial edict proclaiming the Justicars a valid representative of the Empire emboldened the faction to split from the shelter of the Guild. They served as part-enforcer, part-executioner, seeking out those who broke the law and delivering swift punishment.
Though the faction enjoyed brief popularity, the decline of the faction is largely attributed to the inability of Lord Alair to reign in and organize the more zealous members. The faction lasted scarcely a year before imperial proclamation revoked its status as a law-imposing organization. However, even in present day, copies of the Justicars philosophy are still circulated, and the New Junonsburg Arena still prominently bears their symbol.
Appearance
The Justicar uniform, used primarily by the members of Lord Machite Alair’s personal soldiers, primarily incorporated the use of dark reds and pearly whites. Members of the faction dressed in close-fitting robes and crimson overcoats with pale trims. The most prominent weapon of the Justicars was the axe, coming in various sizes and carried by most members, even those without proper training.
The primary symbol of the Justicars is a dual-bladed axe-head bearing two golden scales suspended on either side, set against a circular, crimson background. Dragon iconography was also notable among members, most likely in patronage to the draconic spirit, Morkaleb.
Philosophy
Justice is absolute. Justice is God’s will, and only the righteous can properly uphold it. Justicars are believers in the strict line between guilty, and not guilty. The ideal Justicar lives in a world where there is black, white, and absolutely no shades of gray. There is no good or evil, only right and wrong, innocent and guilty.
The Justicars considers themselves the ultimate agents of law and order. They seek out the guilty and weigh their crimes, doling out punishment where the law demands. It is the sworn duty of all who bear the name to uphold the law, give fair trial, punish, and to believe absolutely in the rightousness of their faction. The Justicar thought is no more apparent than in the seven tenets, the core beliefs and laws that all members were expected to follow.
